Tar & Chip Surfacing.
Tar and chip or chip seal as it is sometimes known is a surfacing technique which is commonly used in the construction of roads, car parks and driveways. The installation is achieved by applying a layer of hot liquid asphalt (tar) onto a pre-prepared surface and then immediately covered with a layer of aggregate chips. The latter adhere to the sticky tar which then provides a surface that is durable and skid resistant.
There are further benefits which include the fact that this is both a cost effective technique and also an affordable option when compared to other surfacing materials.
